Liberty Bell Reflecting Pond
Here one of the North Cascades most distinctive peaks is reflected in a small pond with the colors of autumn at the shoreline. I might have called this image also the "one that got away". I perched my backpack admittedly precariously on a steep bank above where I was taking this image. After this shot it fell down. Although I was able to catch it before hitting the lake, one lens fell out and continued to roll. I thought it might be caught by the small tree in this image, but no. It just kept rolling into the water that I thought was shallow. But when I took off my shoes and I waded in the cold water, it was clear this side of the pond was very deep, at least thirty feet-so I resigned myself to accepting this price for the image! I do feel bad about littering, but I do not think I want to spring for a scuba diver to rescue what is certainly now a no good lens!
