Madrone by the Sea

One of my favorite trees, the Pacific Madrone lies cantilevered from the edge of a steep undercut bluff and reaches out toward the Puget Sound, and out further still to a few small island rookeries. Madrone trees prefer to grow along bluffs is fast draining soil close to salt water. They are always doing something, shedding bark and leaves year long, growing leaves, displaying beautiful white flowers in spring and red berries in fall and winter.
