Beauty out my Front Door

I have brought together a collection of images into a gallery called "Beauty out my Front Door" This gallery is perhaps more about a state of mind than a location. It is about finding beauty and to a certain extent my own self in areas all within comfortable walking distance of my house. It is mostly about places I go to again and again, not seeking out particular destinations so much as letting my mind wander and get lost in the great outdoors. It is about finding beauty, truth and reality in the familiar and the ordinary. None of these locations are considered iconic, in fact you will seldom if ever see them photographed. I am a believer that there is beauty or interesting images to be found just about anywhere. Challenge yourself to find this beauty close to your own home-you will likely be surprised what you will find!

Cedar River Grove

I drive by the Cedar River which is only about 10 or 15 minutes from my home several times a week but I seldom venture along its shores which is close to the somewhat noisy Maple Valley Highway. This morning on a whim I decided to check it out. King County has done a great job in incrementally preserving more and more of the river banks of this river and if the three Bald Eagles I saw this morning are any indication of progress, the County's success is quite remarkable. I think it is so important that we have wilderness like areas not just in remote areas but also close to city and urban areas. Our souls need nature close to us and where we can experience it on a daily basis. I loved the scattered, diffuse and somewhat washed out side light in this image-the most memorable part of my day today!
