Reflections
“A lake is a landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.” -Henry David Thoreau
“My role in society, or any artist’s or poet’s role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all.” -John Lennon

Sundown at Cached Lake beneath Needle Point
This image was taken at the site of our second camp at Cached Lake on the third day of my seven day backpacking trip into the Eagle Cap Wilderness Area with the Sierra Club. The peak in the distance is Needle Point, and at 9,018 feet it is still only the 30th highest point in the Wallowa Mountains! The yellow daisy flowers were at their peak late in August. Cached Lake itself is at 7,360 and needless to say the nights in this area can get quite chilly, but luckily with the rising sun the next day the area heats up fast!
