The Tao of Nature
The Chinese word Tao means “the way”. One might ask what kind of way? First and foremost, it is the way of nature including our own nature. It is also the way of harmony with others and the way of self understanding. Taoism is the study of the way. The Tao of Landscape Photography is about the recovery and the illumination of the path to creativity. I say recovery because the way of the Tao (getting back in touch with our true nature) is also a recognition that the path was always there. This gallery includes many images from my blog post "The Tao of Landscape Photography" that explores our relationship to the Tao. Sunset over the Jordan Basin
This was my parting shot just prior to completing my loop trip in the Goat Rocks and descending into the dark forest for the final two mile hike to my car. It was also about thirty minutes prior to my encounter with what may have been a mountain lion (see my last post on this). There is nothing like a beautiful sunset in the wilderness to soothe the mind and keep one calm, even if potential danger lurks down the trail!
